Who are Beneficiaries?

Beneficiaries are the people nominated by members and pensioners to receive a gratuity payment (lump sum) in the event of their death.

A beneficiary can be:

·         A relative;

·         Minor children;

·         A person who is not related to the member or pensioner; or

·         A registered entity, such as a charity.

Please note that you must decide who your beneficiaries are by nominating them. To do this, you must complete the Beneficiary Nomination form (WP1002) and submit it to your employer’s personnel office. This form is available on this website or, alternatively, a copy can be requested from a Regional Office or from our toll-free Call Centre (0800 117 669).

If you, as a member or pensioner, have not yet nominated a beneficiary, or if your beneficiary details have changed, please complete and submit this form to the GEPF as soon as possible.
